EPDM Rubber

EPDM rubber (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber);  a type of synthetic rubber that is used in many applications. EPDM is an M-Class rubber under ASTM standard D-1418; the M class comprises elastomers with a saturated polyethylene chain (the M deriving from the more correct term polymethylene).

True EPDM rubber, after being vulcanized and filled, has no pungent odor of ordinary rubber, but a fragrant smell. If a pungent odour is detected, it may indicate poor quality.

Touch its texture: True EPDM rubber has excellent texture and feels smooth when touched.

As one of the most popular compounds for manufacturing rubber products, EPDM is an ideal material for the majority of rubber sealing applications within most industry sectors. These products can be manufactured in both solid and expanded/sponge EPDM as extruded profiles, gaskets or cut lengths of sheet.
